Hello!
I have been spending many months talking about the exodus starting with Post 35. If you have followed all of my posts on the subject you have learned the many pieces of wisdom that I learned from the Bible about this amazing story. I hope you have all come to the conclusion that we too, encounter our own Exodus when we decide to leave our life of slavery. Our slavery can be attached to a person we are trying to please, a substance that we need in order to get through the day, a job that gives us our identity, or the various other things that we put before the Lord.
When we decide to make the break, it is a journey that doesn’t prove to be easy. (Check out post 9 called “Heck In The Hallway”). God will be with you however, and you may feel His peace and His presence. Other times you may feel alone and scared with the path He has lead you down. This is much like when the Israelites were left at the base of Mount Sinai while Moses went up to receive the Ten Commandments and the Lord “left” the Israelites, so to speak. This was a time a testing or turbulence in their life.
When we choose to stay on the path of righteousness- the path of following the ways of the Lord, you will watch the world go on as usual with all of the “fun” you used to enjoy. The fun that made you a slave. When the “fun” was over, the stress returned and you had to go on with your life. Many people think that this is how life is -full of hard work, stress and intermittent fun when the weekend or vacations come around.
God tells us that we can drop our stress and have peace if we stick close to Him. Does this mean our life will go the way WE WANT? No, but what if I told you that God’s ways are better than what you want. God’s ways are more peaceful and more exciting and more prosperous? When you choose to follow the Lord, you choose to let God lead your life and you choose the higher, smoother road. Your concern should be staying close to God rather than worrying about your future because God has your future in the palm of His hand.
“you have loved righteousness and hated wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions.” (psalm 45:7 ESV)
Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”(Deut 31:6 ESV)
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you. So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”(Heb 13:5-6 ESV)
There are so many promises that God wants to fulfill in your life, but you must be a follower of His teachings. You must draw near to Him by reading the Bible. You cannot quote scripture and expect it to come true in your life if you don’t develop a relationship with God. God tells us in the Bible that not all Christians will receive His benefits, because not all Christians do what He says. They may go to church religiously, but then they conduct their lives the way they want. If you follow your own form of religion, you CAN NOT receive the conditional promises from God. There are strong believers in this world who never enjoy the benefits of God because they do not have full obedience. Then they feel that God has failed them.
“It is not as though God’s word has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel.”(Rom 9:6)
Not all Christians are obedient. Therefore they inherit the journey of finding their own way out of their mess. Those that have a relationship with the Lord have problems, illness, tight budgets and worries too BUT they have the supreme assurance that as a follower of God, they will NOT be swallowed up and destroyed by them-this is the underlying peace of God. In the end, if they stay in faith -they will end up in peace and prosperity.
“If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.”(Job 36:11 KJV)
The Christian journey is full of twists and turns, turbulence yet peace, but you can count on a safe arrival into your promise land if God is your pilot.
Bon Voyage!
Lisa
