Post 36 Hard Love

Hello,

Did any of you see the newscast last week of a thirty- something white guy who decided he wanted to change his sex and ethnicity  to an Asian female?  Yes, you read that right. He is a guy, looks like a guy, talks like a guy but now on his passport and drivers license, he identifies himself  as an Asian female!  This is what happens when humans make their own rules.  If there is no right and wrong and anything and everything is okay, we will have a very screwed up world won’t we? There is only one way to live.

Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the father except through me.” (John 14:6)

If you want to know if you are living right, ask God.  Then go to your Bible daily and start to read.  God will bring your eyes to a verse that will show you where you are straying from His Word. When we stray from the Lord’s ways we will miss out on His conditional blessings.  I listed below some of the Lord’s conditional blessings:

Deuteronomy 30:9-10
“Then the LORD your God will prosper you abundantly in all the work of your hand, in the offspring of your body and in the offspring of your cattle and in the produce of your ground, for the LORD will again rejoice over you for good, just as He rejoiced over your fathers; if you obey the LORD your God to keep His commandments and His statutes which are written in this book of the law, if you turn to the LORD your God with all your heart and soul.”

Exodus 23:25                                                                                                                                                                                                               “You shall serve the LORD your God, and he will bless your bread and your water, and  will take sickness away from among you.”

Leviticus 18:5
“So you shall keep My statutes and My judgments, by which a man may live if he does them; I am the LORD.”

Ezekiel 18:21
“But if the wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed and observes all My statutes and practices justice and righteousness, he shall surely live; he shall not die.”

Isaiah 48:18
“If only you had paid attention to My commandments! Then your well-being would have been like a river, And your righteousness like the waves of the sea.”

Isaiah 1:19
“If you consent and obey, You will eat the best of the land..”

Acts 5:32
“And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him.”

Deuteronomy 6:25
“It will be righteousness for us if we are careful to observe all these commandments before the LORD our God, just as He commanded us.”

Romans 2:13
“for it is not the hearers of the Law who are just before God, but the doers of the Law will be justified.”

Occasionally when I am feeling distant from the Lord because I have spent less time reading the Bible, I ask God if there is something I need to address. Today, I got a “yes.”  Then I was lead to this Bible verse in Romans 13:1-2

“Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which is from God. The authorities that exist have been appointed by God. Consequently, the one who resists authority is opposing what God has set in place, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.…”

So let’s bring this into everyday life. If we adhere to the rules of authority we will avoid judgement upon ourselves in the future. Not only that, if God sees us following His teachings and obeying authority we will receive blessings -conditional blessings.  Sounds fair enough.  However we are human and if you are like me, you forget this when you are traveling a long distance on a desolate road.  You may go a little over the speed limit….it was only 20 miles an hour over officer!  Opps.  Rules that are put in place to keep us safe are also helping us avoid future pain.  If you lie in court, eventually it will catch up with you.  If you cheat on your taxes, you may get away with it for a long time, but eventually you may miss out on something extremely lucrative because of your dishonesty.   (For the full list of blessings for obedience, read Deuteronomy chapter 28 in full, for a eye opening experience!)

Does it feel like you have to be perfect?  At first you may feel that way, however it’s best to remember that everything the Lord teaches us, is for our benefit.  He wants us to experience a peace filled abundant life and the only way we can experience that, is if we submit to His teachings.    Satan, on the other hand, doesn’t want us to experience all that the Lord has for us.  He wants to manipulate us to  believe that God will not deliver on His promises so it’s useless to follow Him.  Remember how the Serpent lead Eve astray in the garden of Eden? He had her question what God said to her, take a look…

“Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”

The Serpent wanted Eve to doubt what the Lord had said.  When we start to question what we know in our soul is wrong, we are allowing the Devil to manipulate our thoughts.  The Devil wants us to change our mind and entice us to sin.  When God instructs, He doesn’t change His mind.

“God is not human that He should lie, not a human being that He should change His mind.  Does He speak then not act? Does He promise and then not fulfill?”

Whether it’s speeding, cheating on your taxes, lying in any way, shape or form, or making up your own gender and sexual identity, you will never receive the best of the Lord’s blessings by defying the basics of what He teaches in the Bible.  Therefore, I encourage you to read your Bible.  All of those arguments like ” The Bible has been translated so many times it can’t possibly be true.” Or, “It was written so long ago and the world is so different now that it doesn’t apply to our lives,” are lies handed to you by Satan himself.  Don’t buy into them!

God is omnipotent and His word is alive and active.  If you sit down with an open heart desiring to learn the Truth- the Lord, being all powerful, has the ability to open your eyes to understanding.

All my best into a deeper journey of faith.  I’m walking this hard road of Love for the Lord as well!
