Hello! Today I’d like to talk to you about how it is so important to share our faith.
One morning when I looked out at the pond in my backyard, I noticed one lone duck sitting quietly in the middle of the pond. The water was absolutely still- like glass. Then the duck paddled his feet ever so slightly and a series of perfect ripples formed around his body moving outward until they hit shore. There must have been twenty or thirty perfect ripple waves emanating from that handsome duck.
I couldn’t help but liken this scene to a Christian who shares their faith with others. Simply sharing one verse of Scripture with a neighbor who needs encouragement and another verse of Scripture with someone who is having health issues, can give other people the confidence to continue the ripple effect of sharing the Lord Jesus with the world. This is our purpose and this is what every believer should be doing. These “waves” of sharing are what life is all about.
“The Lord gave the word; Great was the company of those who proclaimed it”(Ps 68:11 NKJV)
“The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.”(Ps 68:11 KJB)
The Lord deserves to be included in our conversations and He deserves to be cheered as fervently as when we go to a sporting event and cheer for our favorite team. God has done so much for each and every one of us and we are all so very blessed.
If you have someone to love- you are blessed.
If you have something to hope for- you are blessed.
If you have a job – you are blessed.
If you can see, smell, taste, hear, and move around- you are blessed.
If you have children- you are blessed.
If you know the Lord- you are very blessed indeed!
There are so many disabled people in this world who are happier, and have more content and purposeful lives than many able bodied people. Why? Because they know what they DO HAVE. They may have lost a limb or lost their sight or the ability to walk- but they focus on what they do have- and they use it!
During this season of the corona virus pandemic with money in short supply and the future uncertain- let us be grateful for what we do have. Gratefulness is truly the only way to live. The Lord teaches in the Bible that when we “plant” gratefulness by thanking Him for what we have- we harvest even more blessings!
“Do not be deceived, God cannot be mocked- a man always harvests what he plants.”(Gal 6:7)
Food for thought,
Lisa
