Hello,
Does life seem fair to you? Some people are born into families that love and nurture them, teach them about life, watch over them and guide them so that they can be successful. Other children are born into abject poverty, with little adult supervision and will be lucky to survive their teen years.
Not fair is it? And yet many of us look down at those who are a product of poverty- as if they were the cause of their harsh circumstances. Who are we to judge?
Why does God let such unfairness happen in life and how do we solve this?
First of all, our lives start with free will. We have free will to choose to skip out of high school and defy authority- never letting our lives amount to anything. Or we can choose to take the straight and narrow road. Both scenarios are greatly influenced by how we were raised and both scenarios will affect future generations- one for good and the other for bad.
How can we stop the second generation of the poor performers- from turning out the same? We can’t, but God can. No government program and no handout can change the trajectory of a person’s life permanently. God is the source of all permanent change.
God delights in taking people from horrific situations and turning their lives around through the Cross.
The Cross? What did that do beyond forgiving sins you might ask. EVERYTHING. And this is precicely what isn’t taught in denominational churches.
You see, Jesus chose to die for our sins and redeem our life, changing it from a life of being chained to our sins and addictions, to an overcoming, powerful life. His death, followed by His resurrection, was an exhibition of His power. And this power was given to everyone who believes in Jesus – it is called Holy Spirit power.
“…they will call Him Emmanuel which means God with us.”(Matt 1:23)
The Holy Spirit is waiting to take over our lives with a profound power-if we give it to Him. The less of us, the more of Him. Meaning the less we make choices without consulting God, the more the Holy Spirit can empower us.
“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness”(2 Cor 12:9)
“If you follow My commandments and teachings… all that you touch will prosper and succeed.” (Deut 28)
“Greater is He who is in me, than he that is in the world.”(1 John 4:4)
“If God be for me who can be against me.”(Rom 8:31)
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”(Phil 4:13)
These verses are telling Christians that human beings can come to the end of themselves for many reasons. But we have a helper- the Holy Spirit. And if we bring others to our Christian churches so that they can hear the Word of God, they will begin to understand too, that help is available through the supernatural Holy Spirit. This Spirit guides people in many ways: through dreams, through the words of other obedient Christians and through His Words in the Bible. All of these avenues will guide a person onto the path God desires for them. A path of peace, security and purpose.
So our purpose is to introduce people to Scripture. Then they will understand that with Christ, all things are possible. A childhood lacking in love, support and direction doesn’t mean a future life of pain and lack when God is introduced in that life.
“Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.”
There is profound Wisdom in the Bible and a person can’t fully understand it unless time is spent learning and meditating on it. When God sees our sincerity, He opens our eyes of understanding.
The heart of the Gospel is that God died for us to allow us to live as overcomers and with this, exhibit His glory. The only way this can happen is when there is less of “me” and more of Him. It’s not self help, it’s God’s help.
“Jesus replied, your mistake is that you don’t know the Scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God.”(Matt 22:29)
Have a wonderful week!
Lisa
