Post 94 Who’s Words Are You Speaking- God’s or Satan’s?

Hello!

Today I want to speak to you about the power of the tongue as it relates to God.

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” (Prov 18:21)

“…Thou art snared by the words of thy mouth.”(Prov 6:1-2)

God used His words to create life:

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Then God said let there be light, and there was light.” (Genesis 1:1-2)

God’s Word was filled with energy and energy created matter. We too can use God’s words- the promises He left for us in the Bible, to transform our lives. The transformation will occur with two conditions: #1. If we follow the teachings in the Bible and #2. In God’s timing. God’s Word, written for all of us to find and claim for ourselves- is powerful!

“God is not a man, that He should lie, or a son of man, that He should change His mind. Does He speak and not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?”(Numbers 23:19)

“Let my teaching fall like rain and my speech settle like dew, like gentle rain on new grass, like showers on tender plants.(“Deuteronomy 32:2)

“The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever.”(Isaiah 40:8)

“My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart;  for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body.”(Prov 4:20-22)

This last verse is loud and clear, knowing what God has said about us and keeping those precious words within our hearts, will allow us to fight off the evil discouraging thoughts coming to us from Satan. Yes, there are forces in this world that want to discourage us, depress us, deplete us and lead us on the most sinful path in life. These are not thoughts from the Lord.

When Jesus died on the cross He not only provided a way to have all of our sins removed in order to spend eternity in heaven- He provided a way for us to live as an overcomer right now-in this sin filled world.

If we have not exhausted our grace period for past sin and have turned our lives over to God in order to follow his teachings, we can stand on the promises of God and voice them over our lives.

Bible promises pertaining to illness are:

“I will live and not die and declare the works of the Lord.”(psalm 118:17)

“Gracious words are honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.”(Prov 16:24)

“Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones”(Prov 3:7-8)

Bible promises pertaining to our finances:

“If you follow my commandments and teachings….all that you touch will prosper and succeed.” (Deut 28:)

“Give and it will be given to you, a good measure pressed down, shaken together will be poured into your lap.”(Luke 6:38)

“Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not open the floodgates of heaven and pour out for you so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”(Malachi 3:10)

Bible promises pertaining to will- power:

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Phil 4:13)

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity but of power, love and self discipline.”(2 Tim 1:7)

What we choose to believe and speak is vital to whether we overcome our problems in life or if we succumb to the evil forces that want to destroy all hope for a better life. It is up to us to use our free will to follow the Lord.

“For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and the cleverness of the clever I will set aside.”(1 Cor 1:19)

There are limits to our human perspective, but everything is known to the Lord.  So as we gain wisdom by getting close to the Lord through constant/frequent individual Bible study,* God reveals things to us that are “foolishness” to the world.

“We also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words. But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him because they are spiritually appraised.”(1 Cor 2: 13-14)

We are vessels, created in God’s image (Gen 1:26) to be filled with His Words, His power and His purpose for our lives.

“My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge”(Hosea 4:6a)

All my best,

Lisa

*Individual Bible study is a way for God to direct you to a verse of Scripture that pertains to you or a verse of Scripture that reveals a profound truth that the Lord feels you are ready to receive. Going to church and participating in  group Bible studies are important, but our personal relationship with God is the most important aspect of understanding profound truths.
