Post 85 Denominations Divide

Hello!

My site was “down” last week due to an upgrade in my system, I’m sorry for any inconvenience.

Today I want to discuss how denominations can divide Christians instead of uniting us as a strong force bringing glory to God.

Lets start with the basics. If Christians believe that Jesus was crucified and three days later ascended into heaven – we are all united as to the most profound truth of Jesus.

The differences come when denominations don’t emphasize exactly what this crucifixion and ascension into heaven means for us. It means that Jesus left His believers with a helper- the Holy Spirt. This Spirit indwells us to guide us, calm us, heal us, and assist us through everything we encounter in life.

“Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.”(John 16:7 ESV)

Denominations focus on rules and traditions rather than emphasizing this very important message of divine help.

Jesus’ last words were “It is finished.” He accomplished everything we need to live a great life. Think of an earthly father who works hard to provide for his children. Well, Jesus did the same, but because He is God, He did even more for us. He provides the way to health, peace and prosperity. All we need to do is follow His teachings recorded for us in the Bible and we will be able to receive all of the blessings the Lord “earned” for us from His victory over Satan.

Speaking of Satan- Satan is a fallen angel that loves to do evil. He wants us to follow the ways of the world and turn our backs on God.  Satan is the force that makes you think you need to pray to someone other than Jesus. Satan is the force that lures companies into producing products that are bad for our health but great for their bottom line. Satan is the force that lures married people into adultery. Satan is the force that has you question all of the basics in life like your God given gender and choice of partner. Satan wants to destroy marriages, self esteem, careers, health, relationships -especially your relationship with Jesus.

We can live a life of victory because Jesus defeated the Satanic forces that crucified Him. So if we are living “in Christ” following His teachings, we too defeat anything influenced by Satan. We may lose some battles along the way, but followers of Jesus’ teachings will always end up the winner. We do not need made rules and traditions. We don’t need to pray to saints or the virgin Mary- all we need is Jesus!

It Is Finished
After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I thirst!”  Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth. So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit. (John 20:28-30)

“For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Tim 2:5)

His death completed His work as the sacrificial lamb for all of us. By following His teachings we can live in victory in every area of our life. Nothing can defeat us! We are the Lord’s children and we have an inheritance. Therefore, we will not only survive everything Satan sends against us- we will thrive!

“So if you who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!”(Matt 7:11)

We can hand our life choices over to our all loving and good Father in heaven so that He can guide and orchestrate our lives -or we can choose our own path. God’s ways lead to life, health, peace, contentment and prosperity- as well as finding God’s purpose for our lives. The other path leads to the consequences of our choices: loss of time, loss of money, loss of love and  loss of health. We actually miss the point of human existence when we choose to live our lives based on our own feelings and desires.

The resurrection power that rose Jesus, will support you if you stay in step with God’s teachings. You will be covered under God’s umbrella of protection. It’s not about being perfect, it’s about following our perfect heavenly Father.

As Pastor Charles Stanley states:

“God assumes full responsibility for our needs when we obey Him.”

“Do not be wise in your own eyes. Fear the Lord and turn away from evil, it will be healing to your body and refreshment to your bones.” Proverbs 3:7-8 (NLT)

The best thing we all can do for our lives, is to dig deeper than traditions and man made rules of religious denominations. There is divine power for all of us in the Holy Bible through the teachings of Jesus, but it is only for those humble enough to look.

All my best,

Lisa
