Post 42 What Does “Lord” Mean To You?

Hello!  Thank you for stopping by my blog.  Today I want to talk about the “rock” – the Lord Jesus Christ.

I’m sure many of you have heard this Bible verse:

Build Your House on the Rock
24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”(Matt 7:24-27)

God wants to be the Lord of your life.  What does this mean?  Well the definition of “Lord” is:

noun: someone or something having power, authority, or influence; a master or ruler.

So my question to you is: If you believe in God and call Him Lord, why don’t you let Him lead your life?  Why don’t you pray and ask Him how to proceed in your life when you are at a crossroad and don’t know what to do? Why don’t you pray to Him when you feel depressed, lonely, empty, exhausted, discouraged or ready to give up? Do you think He doesn’t care? Do you think you should be able to handle your problems by yourself? Is it showing weakness to pray for support, assistance and help?

God created us to have a need, a longing you might say, for more.  This “more” can only be found in a relationship with God. Sometimes the Lord will allow the consequences of our actions to wake us up so to speak, to get us to turn to Him and give Him control of our life.

A  life with God as the CEO starts with a little prayer that states you are repenting of all wrongdoing in your life and you want to follow God and be saved by Him. (If you don’t believe you need to be saved, please read my post called “Hell is for Real” with excerpts from a cardiologist I had the pleasure of working with in Denver, Colorado)

The minute you sincerely repent of any wrongdoing in your life and ask God to take over control, the Holy Spirit comes into your heart to live, and you feel content. The weight of your problems have been picked up by God and He is now yoked to you, helping you carry the weight of your life. Nothing in your life has changed but you feel at peace -it’s truly amazing.

Next, the Holy Spirit will start to work on your conscience.  It will give you a little “nudging” when you are stepping out of line.  If you listen to the Holy Spirit, it will become louder and louder.  If you ignore it, it will get quieter until you can “sear” the voice of the Spirit in your life and God will let you do as you please. To reject how God wants you to live is to reject truth, and this will move you further and further away from filling that hollow feeling within your chest, that emptiness and lack of joy.

Being in relationship with your Creator is the only way to live a peace filled content life no matter if you have millions of dollars or  just enough to pay your bills.  God is the answer.  He is amazingly powerful, He can speak to you (see my post “God Speaks”) and His ways will lead you and your family to happiness and joy instead of ruin and destruction.  Will it be easy to follow Him? Not always, but you will find, years later sometimes, that is was the absolute best thing you could have done.

Why bet your life on human decisions and desires that never lead to sustained happiness when you can choose to follow the Lord. He will walk you out of your “mess” of a life and give you a message to share with the world.

I hope you choose life following God. In the next post I will give some scriptural  examples of how to practically use the Word of God to lead your life.

Blessings,

Lisa
