Hello!
In Post #10 I spoke about a young man that I met on the phone who was helping me with my blog. He is a Christian man who shared his testimony* with me and I wrote about it on my blog. What I didn’t share with you was a story- a miracle story- that happened during a mission trip he went on. I would like to share that story with you today.
He told me that he was building something – a hospital, house, or a church, I honestly can’t remember! He said that one of the mission crew had fallen off the building and broke his leg in what sounded like a major fracture clearly evident by looking at the leg.
This person was in severe pain and unable to walk. A large group of Christians formed a circle around the injured person, holding hands while they prayed for healing. They knew God could heal and their urgent and desperate prayers were heard by the Lord because the group witnessed the leg bone moving back into position and the swelling diminished. The man was healed in front of this group of missionaries.
This is bold praying. This is believing in the omnipotence of the Lord. This is what God can do in the presence of believers who have taken the Lord out of their box, in other words, they took their personal limits off God and believed in what the Bible says that the Lord can do.
“I am the Lord, the God of all mankind, is anything too hard for me?” (Jer 32:27)
“…for all things are possible with God” (Mark 10:27b)
“Jesus replied, what is impossible with man is possible with God.” (Luke 18:27 NIV)
“And He called the twelve together, and gave them power and authority over all the demons and to heal diseases. And He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to perform healing.” (Luke 9:1-2)
If you are a follower of God and you are sharing the Good News of the Gospel with others, you are a disciple as well, and this is the authority you have too…believe it.
After my Christian friend relayed that story, I told him that a similar healing miracle happened to me. I told him I didn’t dare tell a soul, who would believe me? My Christian friend told me when God does a mighty work in your life, you are obligated to share it. I finally agreed with him and decided to share it -it is up to God to impress upon the listener’s heart as to the validity of my story. So this is my miracle…
I was visiting a friend in Dallas for Thanksgiving in 2014. On the day after Thanksgiving we were going to go out to do some sight seeing and have some dinner. I went into her guest bathroom to take a shower. I opened the glass door to the shower and stepped in with my left foot- I forgot that the shower floor was sunken and as I stepped in, my body jerked forward. The side of my right foot hit underneath the glass door and I was in immediate excruciating pain. I brought myself into the shower, closed the door but could not even place my big right toe to the shower floor- the pain was too severe. I looked down and my foot was swelling up- the toes were immediately twice their size and bright red. The top and side of my right foot was black and blue, huge and pulsating with pain. I had never in my life felt sharp pain like that before, it took my breath away and I knew that one of the 26 bones in that foot was broken. I didn’t even think to move from the shower- I couldn’t place any weight on that foot so I immediately started praying healing prayers…
“I am healed by the stripes of Jesus”(paraphrased Isaiah 53:5)
“Bless the Lord oh my soul…who heals me.” (psalm 103)
“Ask and you shall receive” (Matt 7:7)
“Just say the Word and I shall be healed”(paraphrased Matt 8:8)
With each verse I whispered out loud, the throbbing in my foot got less intense. Eventually after a couple of minutes, I placed my foot on the shower floor – no pain! I looked down, the swelling was entirely gone! The only evidence that anything was wrong with my foot was a small yellowish green bruise right where the side of my foot contacted the shower door. I was so AMAZED and so alarmed at the power of my prayer and God’s response, that I didn’t know what to say (I hope I said “thank you” but I can’t remember!)
I finished getting ready to go out and easily slid on a high heeled shoe without difficulty or pain. This experience was so surreal to me that I said nothing to my friend. But as soon as my vacation ended and I got home, I told my daughters and showed them the yellow/green bruise on the side of my right foot. They have heard stories of the healing power of God therefore I felt comfortable sharing this absolute miracle with them.
Not long after this incident, I was reading the Bible and came across this verse:
“The righteous person may have many troubles but the Lord delivers them from of all of them, He protects his bones, not one of them will be broken.”(psalm 34:19-20)
Unbelievable? Fifteen years ago, before I started reading Scripture, I would have said- hmmm sounds fishy. After reading and experiencing the power of the Word of God on many occasions, I can say to you, it’s true.
Our Lord has given all of us miracles, maybe not as obvious and immediate as what I and that young man experienced, but all of us have experienced God’s protection and miracles. Try to think of a time you knew beyond a doubt, that “something” caused you to be saved from harm. That “something” is God and He is ready to act on those words He promised you in His Word. Find Bible verses that speak to you, memorize them and put them to use. The Word of God is living and active.
“For the Word of God is alive and active” (Heb 4:12a NIV)
The benefits of being a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ are beyond words. I hope you open your heart and believe the truth of God’s word.
God’s Promise:
Proverbs 4:20-22
My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to a man’s whole body.
