Post 240 A Life Of Contentment And Joy

A life of contentment and joy is a life lead by the Holy Spirit. Problems and heartache still surface but God joins us in working through them. As Scripture says: God works all things together for good for those who follow His ways.

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”(Romans 8:28)

Paul and Barnabus were two Apostles who were lead by the spirit and rejoiced at sharing the Good News about Jesus- yet they suffered many problems and heartache.

Even though every written word about Jesus was fulfilled, many Jewish people refused to believe in the Lord – they actually didn’t recognize Him.

“The people of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize Jesus, yet in condemning him they fulfilled the words of the prophets that are read every Sabbath. Though they found no proper ground for a death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him executed.”(Acts 13:27-28)

We too can fail to recognize Jesus in our life. We can go to church, we can read the Bible and yet we can fail to understand His ways and fail to hear His guiding voice.

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me”(John 10:27)

Why do we fail to recognize the voice of our Lord? In many cases it is because we depend on ourselves. We depend on logic and believe that it’s up to us to to figure out life. We plan our lives using  human intellect, forgetting that our omnipotent Father in heaven can take us from “A” to “Z” in the blink of an eye. Christ should be our guide, our brain so to speak. The Lord is a God of miracles and He is simply waiting for us to use our free will to read about Him and trust Him.

God is also our Creator- He knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows that if He fulfilled our desire in one aspect of life, another aspect of our life would be ruined. So He does things His way and that will lead to a life of contentment and joy if we follow His ways.
