Hello,
Today will be a short post. I simply want to put into acronym form what it means to be a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. It does not mean a perfect person, but a person who has decided to step out of the secular world and let Jesus take the wheel of their life so to speak.
P= pray and praise God
Every believer should pray on a daily basis, not simply at home but as we go about our day, asking for help and petitioning the Lord to help others. We should also praise God by being thankful for all of the good in our lives.
“… the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”(James 5:16)
“LORD, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.”(Isaiah 25:1)
R= Read the Bible.
The Bible is the Word of God, it’s His part of the conversation. We pray to Him and He speaks to us through the words in the Bible- among other ways.
“I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”(Ps 119:11)
A= Affirm God’s Word out loud.
Speaking God’s words creates- it creates a strong faith, it creates a changed heart, it creates changed circumstances and it can heal every sort of spiritual and physical illness.
“Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.” (Romans 10:17)
I= Invest in other people.
Followers of the Lord have their eyes and ears open as they go about their day to be of help to those in need. We can assist a person physically, mentally, emotionally, monetarily and through prayer.
“But I, the LORD, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve.”(Jer 17:10)
S= Submit our life to the Lord.
We must submit every choice and every activity including conversations, music and movie choices, what we consume, who we date/marry, who is in our circle of influence and what career path we take. Our whole life can be guided by the Lord, we simply need to ask and then submit to His guidance. This opens us up to profound blessings.
“For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.”(Matthew 15:25)
E- Expect God’s promises to come to pass.
As we live “In Christ” (in submission to Him) our prayers become amazingly effective and the promises of God become a real hope for future blessings.
“For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory.”(2 Cor 1:20)
“God is not human that He should lie, not a human being that He should change His mind, does He speak then not act, does He promise then not fulfill?”(Num 23:19)
I hope this acronym reminds you to live your life “in Christ” for the most fulfilling, abundant life ever!
