Post 177 Only 2 Options: We Are A Slave To Satan Or To God

Hello,

Not many people, me included, like the word slave. Of course it pulls up pictures in our minds of people being brutally treated and having never ending work with no hope for the future.

Did you know that each and every one of us are slaves to this world- run by Satan- until we become followers of Jesus’ teachings? Slaves to this world means that we have no true power to overcome the difficulties in life except by way of human means. Let me give you some examples:

We are a slave to work

We are a slave to our ailments and diseases

We are a slave to taking medicine and treatments to cure us

We are a slave to people, in order to get ahead in life

We are a slave to our addictions and sin

The Lord, on the other hand, tells us to work for Him and He will provide all that we need- in essence be a servant of the Lord. When we decide to follow the perfect truthful teachings in the Bible, we won’t need to impress sinful people in order to get ahead in life. We simply need to make room in our lives to do work for God and then, after we have taken this first step of faith- He will give us the work He desires for us to do.

“follow me and I will make you a fisher of men.” (Matt 4:19)

We have a way out of this dog-eat-dog existence through the Lord Jesus. If we follow His ways we will be taken care of and will be given our ultimate purpose in life. Satan rules this world but we have an “out” through Jesus.

“….the devil took Him (Jesus) up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.”Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”Then the devil left Him…(Matthew 4: 8-11)

Jesus overcame our mundane “chance” existence when He resurrected from death on the cross, showing us that He is powerful to accomplish anything. God would like to share this power with us through His Holy Spirit.

The definition of slave is: a person who is the legal property of another and is forced to obey him.

The good slave owners cared for their slaves by feeding them well, allowing adequate rest time and proper tools to do their work. When we choose to turn our life over to the Lord we have disowned ourselves from Satan and the slavery of painful toil  and have become a fisher of men for the Lord. When we decide to work for God, He treats us well, giving us adequate rest, enough money and power to overcome all of our problems including addictions, life circumstances, illnesses and even our lack of faith.

“The blessings of the Lord brings wealth without painful toil.”(Prov 10:22)

So the real question is- who will you believe? The only One to believe is the Lord. He will speak to anyone who sincerely seeks His wisdom. Then we have the ability to step out of the world and become a “slave” to Christ rather than a slave to our jobs and this world. God is NOT a slave driver, He gives rest to the weary, leads us on safe life roads, prepares a table for us in the presence of our enemies, anoints us to do work for Him. (Psalm 23)

Our lives can be completely different by being  Christ followers. By stepping out of the lures of the world and deciding to put on the yolk of God we have saved our life- we will be more than taken care of!

“Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

I will take the Lord’s yoke any day over Satan’s yoke- what about you?

Food For Thought,
