Hello,
Today I’d like to talk to you about something I can assume all Christians have encountered…. Worry.
First of all worry is useless, we all know that. It’s an annoying emotion that emerges somewhat unconsciously that we need to consciously control- because it’s from Satan.
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”(Phil 4:6-7)
Satan wants to kill our peace of mind, relationships, health, happiness and our love of God. He also wants to literally steal from us- luring us to spend money on things that don’t serve us or put us further into debt. He wants to steal and destroy our marriages our happy homes and a work environment that is stable. There is so much more he would like to get his greedy little hands on but he can’t do this to those “in Christ”… let me explain.
God came to earth in the form of a man named Jesus who conquered the hardest thing of all- coming back to life after death!
If Jesus can conquer this, He can conquer our problems- we simply need to have a close association with Him. We can gain this relationship with Jesus through diligently reading the Bible and through a consistent prayer life that also includes quiet time. When we sit quietly after reading and praying – without distractions- we are giving ourselves the opportunity to hear the Lord. God won’t speak above our YouTube video or Instagram scrolling. We must sit quietly without distractions listening for His guidance.
“The thief comes only to steal and to kill and to destroy. I have come that they may have life and have it in abundance.”(John 10:10)
All throughout the Bible the Lord teaches His people that He will help them- take a look at one example:
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding,
which must be curbed with bit and bridle,
or it will not stay near you.
Many are the sorrows of the wicked,
but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the Lord.
Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, O righteous,
and shout for joy, all you upright in heart!
(Psalm 32:8-10)
This verse is clear, God will instruct us and teach us the way we should go about our life. He also tells us to not be stubborn when we hear things we don’t like. We don’t want God to have to “bit and bridle” us by allowing an illness, job loss or a major problem to enter our lives in order to bring us close to Him. He wants a relationship with every single one of us, and this relationship is for OUR good! God is a good good Father and He won’t stop pursuing us until we acquiesce. The more stubborn we are and the more we refuse to turn to our heavenly Father for help with our life issues, the more uncomfortable our life becomes.
Why?
Because when we ignore God we are living outside of His protection and thus we begin to suffer the consequences of our life choices. But those who maintain closeness with the Lord have love surrounding them. There is a joy within us no matter what we are doing. It is a peace that sometimes can’t be contained and we exude happiness. This is from the Lord- it’s not fake or made up. It is the confident assurance that God loves us and is guiding our lives.
Blessings are for the obedient and worry is for those who want to tackle life without God.
What about you? Will you need a “bit and bridle” to get you onto the path God wants for you or will you willingly seek Him out?
“Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.”
Food for thought,
Lisa
