God's Wisdom In A Nutshell

Let me start by sharing a harsh yet wonderful verse of Scripture:

“The theif comes to steal, kill and destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it abundantly.”(John 10:10)

This verse is telling us that Satan is on a mission to destroy our lives any way he can. He will try to destroy our peace of mind, our health, our finances and our family. He wants to kill our belief in God, our will to live, our hope and our thoughts of a better life.

Many people think that Satan is not real, but the Bible has evidence to the contrary:

“Submit yourselves then, to God. Resist the devil and He will flee from you.”(James 4:7NIV)

“Be of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.”(1 Peter 5:8-9)

“Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devils schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the authorities against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”(Eph 6:11-12)

In order to avoid Satan’s traps we need to gain wisdom through the Bible. We learn that Satan starts to destroy our lives through our thoughts. He can manipulate us through T.V. programs, media, billboards, conversations etc. We protect ourselves by memorizing Scripture to counter Satan’s attacks. Here are some examples:

Satan:”You can’t conquer this addiction you aren’t strong enough”

God: “You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you” (Phil 4:13)

Satan: “You need to partake in these strongs drinks and/or drugs, you had a hard week- let loose!”

God: “Stay sober, the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion looking for someone to destroy.”(1 Peter 5:8)

Satan: “God wants you to have fun and follow your feelings”

God:“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge of Me”(Hosea 4:6)

Satan: “Maintain ties with people at all costs even if they want you to partake in activities and conversations that go against the Lord’s teachings”

God: “And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. (Matt 19:29-30)

The best thing we can do is to evaluate the voice we trust. Do we trust our own intellect and feelings that are based on the culture or are we humble enough to look to the Word of God for guidance?  If we trust ourselves, Satan has easy access to our mind and he will go to work to discourage, depress, and fill our mind with negative emotions that lure us into sins of addiction and debauchery.

Attending a good Bible based church and being involved in small groups within that church will strengthen our resolve to live for the Lord. It will also increase our knowledge of God’s Word so that we can stay within the center of God’s will.

We can’t casually walk through life thinking that we are immune to Satans lures- Satan wants to destroy everyone- especially the family unit. It is evident he is gaining ground by what we are witnessing in the world today.

“Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”(Phil 4:8)

Let’s frustrate Satan’s schemes this week by gaining more wisdom from the Bible!
