Hello,
Today I want to talk to you about how God calls Christians to stand out in the crowd, as a group of people who honor the Lord by living and acting as He desires us to live-trusting that He will provide all that He says He will provide to His obedient followers. This allows us to live an essentially stress free life.
The original Christians were the Israelites- a group of people who were slowly learning that trusting and honoring the Lord with their lives would prove to be very beneficial.
Let’s step back in history for a moment.
As the Israelites continued through the desert on the way to their Promise land of abundance, they would intermittantly lose their composure when faced with a tough situation. For example, when they had no water to drink in the desert, they got extremely fearful and blamed Moses for leading them into this horrific situation. Instead of praying to the Lord to fulfill their need, trusting that He would take care of them, they would lash out in anger toward their leader. As it turned out, all they had to do was ask Moses to talk to the Lord and ask for this provision. The Lord then provided a gushing river of water out of a rock.
When we think that we need to figure out all of our problems, we are leaving God out of our lives. He is alive- just like the movie says “God’s Not Dead.” He didn’t leave us on our own. All we have to do is ask for direction. Ask for help. Ask for whatever concerns us and then…listen. We need to allow peace to enter our homes. When we turn off the television, podcasts, computers and set our phones aside we give God the ability to enter our thoughts. The Word of God is living and God speaks to us by reminding us of a verse of Scripture. As we meditate on the verse, He will open our mind to understand it and we can use it in our lives- but we need quiet to receive it. The Word will calm us, teach us and guide us. And when we trust God, His power and amazing glory can be displayed in our lives.
“Take delight in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalm 37:4)
Your desire may be to have help with an exam- if you are a college student. Or it may be supernatural help to get pregnant. You may desire to find a job that doesn’t work your fingers to the bone, allowing more time and energy for your family. Whatever it is, God is waiting for us to read His book so that we can find these answers to our prayer requests. The Bible is the best self help book of all time- full of God’s promises to us. All we need to do is find them, and then live our lives as the Lord teaches.
God calls every believer to be different – to stand out as a people of integrity. God instructs us to “look on things that are pure and lovely and right.” If we choose our own way, we grieve the Spirit within us and we end missing out on the purpose God has for us. God is looking for clean vessels in which to pour out His power, His love and His blessing.
As God took His last breath on the cross, He said: “It is finished.” (John 19:30) This verse means two very important things.
“Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”(Matt 19:26)
“By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see.”(Acts 3:16)
Our life is God’s gift to us. The way we live, is our gift to God. Take the stress off of yourself and start to live your life trusting our heavenly father. A life honoring the Lord is a stress free life.
Have a great week!
Lisa
