Post 9 Heck In The Hallway

There is a saying that goes “When one door closes, God will open another one.” A friend of mine said, “Yes, but no one tells you that you will encounter  “heck” in the hallway!”

Yes, more often than not, this statement is true. If we live our life based on our feelings and don’t seek God’s will for our life, we will find that we have walked down an unpleasant path. We probably have been nudged to avoid the path, but we ignored it. The inner voice that tried to get our attention is the Holy Spirit trying to guide us to a life that is less complicated and more rewarding-a life in relationship with God.

If we ignore that voice again and again and again, eventually the helper (Holy Spirit) will leave us to our own choices and yes, we will suffer the consequences. Even if we turn our life over to God and decide to follow His ways, we will endure “heck” in the hallway as we beat off the tactics of the Devil trying to discourage us from following the Lord. The Devil wants to discourage us  before we receive a promise from God through the next door.

Let me tell you from first hand experience, that enduring the closed doors is worth it! Stay the course because God will open another. Remember, if God is leading you, you can be sure it will be towards a door that leads to peace, contentment and joy. If we continue long enough, making a pact with God that we will follow Him no matter what comes against us, the blessing waiting for us through that next door, will be beyond what we could have created for ourselves.

“God blesses the people who patiently endure testing.” (James 1:12 NLT)

I urge you to turn to God. He is a loving father, better than any father on earth. The moment we repent of our sins (and we all sin!) He forgives us and puts us back on track leading us to the opened door to His blessings!

“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7)
