Post 1 How To Be Blessed And Receive God’s Precious Gifts

Hello,

I’m sure everyone would like to know how to be blessed and receptive to God’s precious gifts -gifts of help, healing, peace and direction – who wouldn’t right? But in order to receive these things we need to open the best gift of all, the Holy Bible. Gifts are useless unless they are opened and the Bible is the treasure map to direct us towards the many gifts of God.

If someone had an armful of beautifully wrapped presents and offered them to us, I’m pretty sure we wouldn’t reject them with the statement:  “Thanks but no thanks”  This is what we do when we refuse to read God’s Word/ Holy Bible.

There are thousands, yes thousands of promises in the Bible that God is willing and able to give us, but we need to draw near to Him to receive them.   You might think, “Sure I’d love to see what He has for me but you want me to read the Bible?”  That thought process is the equivalent of driving by your friend and telling her to just throw the presents she has for you through the car window so you can receive them, and then be on your merry way!

The problem with “drive by presents” is that we don’t get to know the giver very well; and friendship with a person who loves us enough to shower us with presents, is the best gift of all.

Although God blesses everyone – when we refuse to read the Bible we refuse additional blessings (presents) that are given after we establish a relationship with Him.

God loves everyone, faults and all, we don’t have to start a relationship with Him. We don’t need to earn His love, it has been there since the day He knit each of us together in our mother’s womb.  “I knew you before I formed you in the womb, I set you apart for me before you were born.” (Jer 1:5 ISV)

As parents, we have looked at our newborn child as a precious gift, full of potential.  God looks at us the same way.  He has given us talents only He knows about, but it takes a relationship with Him to find out what they are.

We shouldn’t refuse God the joy of spoiling us with presents – two of the best being peace and joy.  Joy is happiness not based on outward circumstances. Likewise, we mustn’t  let the devil make us think that we are too old to add another amazing chapter (or ten!) to our life.

He knew every decision and every mistake before we made them.  He knows how old we are and how much potential He put in us.  But He also knows that He gave us free will,  we get to choose whether or not we want to start a relationship with Him. He is a gentleman and He won’t force us. Why would we ever refuse unconditional love, the joy of His presence and His presents?

GOD’S PROMISE:

“And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and He rewards those who seek Him.” (Heb 11:6 ESV)

This verse tells us that we are rewarded for seeking God. Our prayers are our end of the conversation, the Bible is how the Lord speaks to us.  Won’t you give it a try?
