Post 109 Pain Is A Gift- Part 2

Hello,

Today I want to talk to you about one way God tries to steer us back to the right path for our lives.

Let’s take the example of an earthly father. If an earthy father caught his son doing something against the law or against the father’s rules, the father- if he is a good father- will punish his child. Why is it then, that so many people think God won’t ever punish us because He is always loving?  Isn’t love also NOT allowing poor behavior?

If the Lord Jesus Christ didn’t discipline us through pain, we would never stop to examine our actions. If our lives go on without suffering the consequences of our poor choices, we would think that all of our choices are fine with God.

Being human we have all made some really poor choices in life thus far. And being Christian, we need to repent of our sin or else the Lord will eventually  come down pretty hard on us by allowing us to suffer the consequences of our choices. Remember, whatever we plant in life (think of the seven deadly sins) we will harvest. We harvest our consequences when our grace period is over.  God is very very patient with everyone. He might even give us more than a decade before we suffer the consequences of our poor choice.

Yet, pain can be a gift. At times it can stop us in our tracks and make us ponder all of our life choices. Pain is the best gift when we are alone and no human being has any clue how to help us. Then and only then, are we left with no other option but to turn to our all powerful Father in heaven.

Let’s take a sobering look at God’s anger towards sin:

 If he does not relent,
he will sharpen his sword;
he will bend and string his bow.
He has prepared his deadly weapons;
he makes ready his flaming arrows.

 Whoever is pregnant with evil
conceives trouble and gives birth to disillusionment.
 Whoever digs a hole and scoops it out
falls into the pit they have made.

 The trouble they cause recoils on them;
their violence comes down on their own heads.

Psalm 7:12-16 New International Version (NIV)

I wonder what the deadly weapon is- don’t you? Let’s not be stubborn, let’s take an honest look at how we have lived. This will allow us to repent of any wrongdoing and give God the opportunity to forgive us and clear the connection between our spirit and His Spirit. Only then will we be certain that when problems come, we will be able to call out to God and He will hear us and answer us.

“We know that God doesn’t listen to sinners, but he is ready to hear those who worship him and do his will.”(John 9:31NLT)

This is God’s honest Truth!

Have a wonderful week!
