Life In God’s Kingdom Starts With Submission To God

Life in the Kingdom of God starts with submission to Him and a choice to follow Jesus’ teaching about how to live life.

Jesus said “Your mistake is that you don’t know Scriptures or the power of God.”(Matt 22:29)

Christians wouldn’t argue that Jesus lived a powerful life here on earth.  His job was to do the will of His Father, which included healing the sick, casting out demons and dying to pay for our sins. Then after He did the will of His Father, God raised Him from the dead!

“I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.”(John 9:4 KJV)

Jesus modeled how to live a powerful life by submitting to His Father’s authority. And we will live a powerful life by submitting to Jesus’ teachings.

Jesus tells us:

“If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.”(Luke 9:24)

This life we all live prior to being a born again Christian, is a life of darkness. We are positioned spiritually in the kingdom of darkness. We aren’t protected fully by God because we have chosen our own way in the world. Once we learn about Jesus Christ we can choose to take Him as our Lord and Savior. If we do, we have positioned ourselves in the Kingdom of heaven- even though we still live on earth.

This Kingdom of heaven is a spiritual place where we start to understand the Holy Spirit’s leading. After we begin to follow this prompting and we dig deeper into Scripture, we will understand this incredible power living within us. When people fully understand the authority Jesus earned for us and we use it,  prayers become powerful and miracles start to happen.

Hanging on to our secular life means we will have more problems, we will need to backtrack and waste time from poor choices.God can’t protect our choices because we made them without consulting Him. We may randomly have a good choice here and there but we have no guarantee down the road, if it will end up serving us.

By handing our life to Christ, we will be protected- but it won’t feel like He is leading us on the safest path. It will require faith. On the other hand, when we live life our way- not consulting with the Lord- we may feel like we made good choices and have a protected future, but we don’t. God can’t protect us where He didn’t lead us and therefore we will suffer the consequences of our choices. God doesn’t punish us, our choices do.

“He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”(John 3:18 KJV)

We must believe on Him- that is not a typo. We must place our faith on Him and Him alone. If we don’t place our faith on His ability to provide for us, we will miss out on bountiful blessings. Not only that, life will simply be harder.

In the Old Testament, the Lord finally got Pharoah to release the Israelites out of his slavery and let them leave to follow the Lord. God moved this massive group of humanity slowly and performed many miracles along the way. He knew that the fnal move- conquering the promise land of blessings would require faith.

The Lord was leading the Israelites into  a land flowing with milk and honey. It was a lush land full of everything good. This final conflict to conquer and arrive in the best land God had envisioned for His people would definitely require faith. The people in the land were powerful and some were giants. They frightened 10 of the 12 spies who spied out the land. They were too afraid to go in and take the land. This fear- based on what they saw and felt not based on God’s word, kept them from experiencing God’s finest blessings. This is how we miss our blessings as well.

Submission to God is required for Kingdom blessings.

Human beings are limited. We must rely on our senses and intellect to lead our life. What we think, feel, hear and see determines what we do. But our senses are part of our bodies which are perishable.

On the other hand our spirit, which communicates with God’s Spirit, is eternal. God knows the beginning from the end and can perfectly lead us into the desires of our heart. God’s authority to know and do things comes from the fact that He is the author of life. We only see half the picture- God know it all, and He will never lead us astray.

Scripture  guides us as God would have us live. Verses like:

Husbands and wives must mutually submit to one another (Ephesians 5:21-33)

Children honor your mother and father (Commandment five)

Tithe 10% of your income (Mal 3:10)

Forgive so that you may be forgiven (Eph 4:32)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart even if you don’t understand His ways (Prov 3:5-6)

These are just a few examples of the Lord’s teachings. Every word of guidance from the Lord, every act of submission will bring us Kingdom blessings here on earth.

Won’t you join me in being a doer of the Word and not simply a hearer. Once we make this choice, the Holy Spirit power comes to live within us and guide us towards a life of continual blessings and peace!

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”(Matt 7:24)

“Why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ but not do what I say?”(Luke 6:46)
