Post 195 The Armor of God

Hello,

Did you know that the Word of God is like armor to be used when fighting? God gave us His Words in the Holy Bible and they are powerful. If you know the story of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, you know that it was Satan’s influence that killed Jesus, but Jesus’ power overcame Satan by resurrecting. This power is available to all who understand and use it.

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”(Mark 16:17-18)

There is no question about it. If we want to be free from all aspects of evil and be blessed instead, we need to read Scripture, meditate on it and memorize it. Why do we need to memorize it? Because oftentimes we don’t have our bibles during the day when the evil one tempts us. God’s Word is powerful and Satan must flee when we recite Scripture that pertains to our situations. Scripture is our armor of protection.

“Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”(Eph 6:10-12)

The evil in this world comes from Satan, it is not a person that we are fighting, it is Satan’s strong influence on that person. We shouldn’t think of our battles as personal, but rather spiritual.

The armor is:

the helmet of salvation: this guards our thoughts and mind so that we remember Scripture and recite it when we have a fearful or depressing thought. Speaking God’s Word outloud and using the name of Jesus makes the devil flee from us and negative, depressing, luring thoughts can be stopped in their tracks.

The breastplate of righteousness: this protects our heart from deception. When we are in right-standing with God we will see deception coming a mile away.

The belt of Truth: this is Jesus.  Jesus is the way the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father except through Jesus. (John 14:6) We must always keep in mind that unless God’s guiding influence started a business, made a product or developed anything, it has the fingerprint of Satan and it can harm us. The world can only offer darkness and deception therefore we must arm ourselves with Scripture, recite it in order to gain the truth which will  turn us from temptations and fear. Scripture is that powerful!

The Sheild of Faith: Faith and unwavering trust in God should be the goal of every Christian. When we have absolute trust and faith in the Lord ,we will be willing to do things the Lord tells us even if they seem counterintuitive.  He is our provider, protector and sustainer. By holding onto our faith during difficult situations, God will step in to deliver us.

The Sword of the Spirit: This is God’s Word. When Satan comes against us telling us that we will never overcome an illness, for example, followers of God can recite verses on healing such as ” I am healed by the stripes of Jesus.” If we believe with our heart and confess with our mouth, healing comes- sometimes quickly and sometimes it can be a journey, but the Lord promises to deliver His faithful followers from everything.

The shoes of the Gospel: The Gospel is the Good News. The four Gospels remind us that Jesus defeated Satan when He resurrected from the dead. Therefore there is nothing Jesus can’t do for His children- this is our foundation to live life fearlessly following His teachings. We are to be immitators of Jesus, to speak only life giving words, to always have faith and trust and to do the things He tells us to do- trusting Him as a child trusts a good parent. We will never be disappointed.

The armor of God is the inheritance of a true believer/ follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. God should not be something we believe in like we believe the sky is blue. We need to take it deeper and have faith in God’s promises of health, protection and abundance in all areas of life.

Faith is active. It quits a job that is ungodly, knowing God will lead us to the perfect job that won’t require us to lie, cheat or change data for instance -in order to get the end result the company desires. Faith is like walking out on a tightrope- the world thinks we are crazy but the unseen spiritual world of God is more real and protective than money, bosses and jobs. God is powerful and can be trusted to work in the lives of those who love and trust Him!
