Post 164 Where Are You On The Faith….to….Follower Continuum?

Hello

Today I’d like to talk to you about the difference between religion and non- denominational Christianity.

First off, all religions have their own system of faith and worship and of course rules. These rules were established by the founders of the religion and they provide the doctrine of what is taught.

Non denominational Christians have no set of man made rules. Christians simply read the Bible and let the Holy Spirit interpret the Scripture. The church services in non denominational churches study the Word of God with the pastor helping to apply the teachings to everyday life. The main guideposts are the Ten Commandments.

Those that ascribe to a religion believe in the Lord. They go to church to honor the Lord and then live life through their own power. Non denominational Christians believe in the Lord and at some point in their life, give their life and all choices over to the Lord allowing Him to lead them. This is called being a born again Christian. This simply describes the fact that we were first born into the world and the second birth is when we choose to join into God’s Kingdom on earth allowing Him to teach us and guide our decisions. A Christ follower has a changed life. They are at peace, they have forgiven enemies and people who have hurt them. They do not hold grudges and simply strive for Christlikeness.

The Holy Spirit empowers all born again Christians through all aspects of life in order to follow the Lord. The reward for giving our life to Christ and living life as He determines is that we receive conditional blessings. Every bible verse that says “these things can be enjoyed by servants of the Lord” or something to that effect, are the blessings born again Christians receive.  These born again followers of God have lives marked with miracles.

God has countless blessings waiting for anyone who chooses to give up their life choices to be His follower. If we do not follow the Lord and simply believe He exists we do not have a Lord because the definition of Lord is : “someone having power, authority or influence. A master or ruler.” Therefore a believer goes about life as a random act of chance not knowing that there is a  powerful life waiting for them when we hand all of our life choices over to Christ.

I have seen a miracle healing, spontaneous answered prayer, as well as signs and wonders.  If God is the same yesterday, today and forever as stated in the book of Hebrews 13:8, then Jesus’ name can still work miracles today- It is simply a matter of surrender and faith. Sounds too good to be true? It is truly amazing, so much so that many still do not believe. But those Christians who do believe, have experienced God’s miracles on a regular basis. We are the hands and feet of Jesus on this earth. The Lord is looking for people to pour His power through in order to continue to help all people.

Religions do not teach this because it requires much faith and much knowledge of God- knowledge that can only be obtain by reading and studying the Word of God. Religions like to keep the study to the pastor or priest and let the congregants simply learn. This was not how Jesus taught. His death and resurrection tore the veil in two between Him and His people allowing us to come boldly to His throne asking for that which we need. It is only through bible study that we will ever come to the point of understanding just how much power the Holy Spirit has for us when we simply humble ourselves like little children and believe.

Christianity without the supernatural is simply a man made religion. God is real, God is powerful and God offers every believer the Holy Spirit Power to help us live a life that overcomes every obstacle. Jesus resurrected from the dead- this is the power that we have within us. We will never come to full knowledge of just what Jesus gave us until we read Scripture.

No one would give a precious present to a casual friend- neither would God.

I invite you to step out of the believer zone and into the follower of Jesus Christ zone- it will be the best decision of your entire life both here and in eternity!
