Finding Our Purpose

Finding our purpose requires going to our Creator. Did you know that God prepared good works for us to do even before we were born?

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”(Ephesians 2:10)

Our purpose is not necessarily connected to our foremost passion, ideal job or even where we think our talent lies. Those are our passions and passions are important as well. We can use our passions to help others and that too will reflect God’s love.  But our passions are not our purpose. Our purpose in life is given to us by God and it will be used to display His glory.

How We Give God Glory

The word glory sort of trips people up. Many think it means an egotistical person wanting to be on display. Actually, the word glory can be changed to renown- the condition of being known or talked about by many people. So our purpose in life is to live in a way that brings glory to God.

The first step is to get to know our heavenly Father, and this starts with daily bible reading. The bible is full of His conversations- either His words directly spoken out of His mouth or conversations and situations inspired by God and thus supernaturally saved for us to read.

After we get to know our Lord we understand that He is trustworthy. The next step is then to be obedient to the wisdom learned through our bible study- obedience always bring blessings.

Then we must take care of what He has already given us including our family, health, possessions, jobs, friends- you name it! Everything good in our lives comes from the Lord and we must be good stewards of our blessings.

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights who does not change.”(James 1:17)

Our Creator Reveals Our Purpose

Contrary to popular belief, we cannot take a class to find our purpose. Finding our purpose requires going to our Creator in prayer, bible study and actively listening. What we know for sure is that everyone’s purpose will include sharing the Good News of the Gospel. That Christ came to earth as a human being, suffering every affliction and human need even though He could’ve provided everyting for himself. Ending His life in a horrific death to be our sacrificial lamb to die for our sins. This act gave us everything we could ever want through a relationship with Him. What is harder than dying and raising from the dead? Nothing! Therefore He can help us with everything in life and desires to do so. We only need to come close to Him and we will receive not only our purpose but a fulfilled life full of blessings.

There are two great days in a persons life, the day we were born and the day we hand our lives to our Creator so that He can give us our true purpose.
