Christianity

Christianity can be explained through the Lord’s Prayer. Jesus tells us how to pray for a powerful life.

Most of us know that Jesus is aware of our requests even before we make them. However, praying to Him for help shows our submission to Him and our confidence in His ability to help us.

“when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
“This, then, is how you should pray:
“ ‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one. ’.
(Matt 6:7-13)

Jesus taught:

  1. He is everyone’s Father and a father provides for His children. “So Abraham called the name of that place, The LORD will provide”; as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the LORD it shall be provided.”(Gen 22:14)
  2. He reminds us of the fact that His name is Holy and thus powerful. “You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. If you love me you will keep my commandments.”(John 14:14-15)
  3. Jesus tells us to pray for His Kingdom to come down to earth. This means that we have influence on God’s Kingdom coming to earth. Scripture tells us we are co-workers with Christ. Therefore the Kingdom power including healing, miracles, provision, protection and joy can come to earth through our obedience and prayer life.  “As God’s co-workers we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain.”(2 cor 6:1)
  4. He tells us to ask for what we need- physically as in food and spiritually to understand His Word, because He is our provider.“For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”(Matt 7:8)
  5. He instructs us that obedience is required for forgiveness. If we don’t forgive others we are not forgiven and will perish- meaning the fading away of strength, health, hope, wisdom, knowledge and/or prosperity. “If you consent and obey you will eat the best of the land.”(Isaiah 1;19)
  6. We must ask God to help us avoid all temptations which include addictions. We can do this by confessing them. When we repent and turn away from them God steps in and empowers us to set them down for good. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity but of power, love and self discipline.”(2 Tim 1:7)
  7.  We should ask to be delievered from all future evil that Satan has planned for our lives.“The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble.”(Nahum 1:7)

What Christ Provided

Christ provided more than salvation at our death. He provided power through our faith and prayer life to overcome everything. This power was given to us at salvation- when we first believed in Jesus. Now it is up to us to walk out our faith into the deep waters. We must stand on God’s Word to do even the impossible in our lives!

“Keep this book of the Law always on your lips, meditate on it day and night being careful to do everything in it. Then you will be prosperous, then you will have success.”(Joshua 1:8)
