Post 201 Individual Bible Study-The Most Important Part Of Our Day

Hello,

There is danger when we rely on a system, religion or teachers to inform us of all the Truths in the Bible- especially if the teachers have only learned from the system his/herself.  This means that the Bible study system becomes the authority in their life instead of the Holy Spirit.

“As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.”(1 John 2:27)

We need to look at the lives of those that teach us. What is the fruit from their life after being involved in Bible studies? Are they abiding or living in accordance with the way God tells us and thus living in the freedom of the Gospel or do they look like any other secular person? Are these teachers living in the power, peace and contentment from a true relationship with the Lord, or are they striving apart from the Lord to take care of all that concerns them? Are they memorizing and USING Scripture to fight off the darts of Satan, or are they acting on the defensive and enduring bad situations?

The only way to FULLY understand who the Lord is and how He helps and provides for His followers, is to read the Bible with a sincere desire to know Him.

“If you seek me with your whole heart you will find me.”(Jer 29:13)

We should not always be looking into the Word of God to find an answer to a question on our handout from bible class.  This sort of searching limits us. God would like to speak to our personal situations through the stories we read  in the Bible. But it is difficult if we aren’t looking to improve our life or our walk with Him and we are solely focused on answering questions. We need to avoid being ever learning and never hearing as a result of  Bible study class.

“In them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled: ‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.”(Matthew 13:14)

Are we believers who take bible study classes or are we  FOLLOWERS of the Lord who study the bible independently to allow the Holy Spirit to speak to our specific situations? God assumes full responsibility for all of His followers needs. If God tells us to do something and we do it we need not have fear. Peter was asked to walk on water- this is a perfect example of the counter intuitiveness of God. He will ask His followers to do things that the secular world would never do.

God asked me to stay in a per diem position at work- with no secure hours, as a single mom. After I did this I was given my purpose from Him- to be a writer- and my income went up!

God has a purpose for every person but we must “walk on the water” towards Jesus and listen and follow where He leads us. And like Abraham who took his son up a hill at the urging of God, God will test our faith in Him. Only those who walk where He tells us- even when it doesn’t make sense- will receive an assignment from Him and His full blessings.

Why?

Because we trust Him. Because we know God’s ways are higher than our ways. Because we know God will NEVER LET HIS FOLLOWERS FALL INTO POVERTY. What earthly father would ask a child to do something and in the end have it make the child worse off? BUT we can’t live as we choose and still reap the full benefits of the Lord because the Lord will never protect us where He hasn’t lead us. God is the best father in the world! He can be trusted even if it doesn’t make sense!

“The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want…”(Ps 23:1)

The apostles walked away from their jobs at the urging of Jesus and followed Him into a remote place far from town-and they didn’t have food with them, yet Jesus provided.  Jesus fed not only the Apostles, but the five thousand on one occasion and the four thousand on another. Then then the Apostles were the ones who got to take home the leftovers! God provides abundantly!  He doesn’t provide a bit of bread and a bite of fish- He provides so much for His followers that there is enough to leftover to share.

We must trust the Lord when He says He will never leave us nor forsake us. We must actively show our trust in God that He will provide- just like Abraham knew the Lord would provide a substitute sacrifice for his son Isaac.

God is good, God provides. God heals. God also tells us that we have free will to live in submission to Him and receive the benefits of His conditional blessings or to live as we choose.  We have the choice to be a believer who takes bible study classes and then have the remainder of our life look no different than the secular world with the music you listen to, the movies you watch, the conversations you have, the placing of children in daycare so that you can have nicer things. All of these show choices will show whether or not we are a believer and follower or simply a person who believes in Jesus Christ.

Being a follower requires us to align our life with the Truths the Holy Spirit reveals to us when we read the Bible daily and meditate on God’s Word.  When we receive guidance the follower will do it- even if it’s hard, even if it looks like we are going to sink. Because this tests our faith and once we have been tested, we are rewarded. We must take the steps of obedience in order to experience the fullness of what Jesus provided for us on the Cross.

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”(James 1:2-4)

Individual Bible study is of paramount importance. Just because a system and a group of people believe something, doesn’t mean it’s Gods Truth. Followers of the Lord are rare- believers are everywhere, which are you?

In God We Trust
