Post 82 Feeling Boxed In?

Hello,

Have you ever found yourself in a situation that seemed like your back was up against the wall and you had nowhere to turn for help because all human help failed you?  Well…this could be the turning point in your life!

“That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”(2 Cor 12:10NIV)

If we have the resources and ability to figure everything out, we can become spiritually poor.  A self sufficient person rarely has the need to call out to God in a heartfelt desire for help. But, if we are poor in the eyes of the world, our faith can be strong and that faith empowers our lives.

“Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?”(James 2:5 NIV)

“Poor” in the eyes of the world could be a handicap, a life situation, or a lack of resources. Many times it is circumstances like these that turn our hearts to prayer – and that is exactly where God desires us to be.

In the Bible, the Israelites were in a horrific predicament as they started on their journey out of Egypt. They were instructed by Moses to leave Egypt because the Lord wanted the Israelites to return to their own country. Moses was their leader chosen and directed by God.

As they started out, God led them to camp in an enclosed area with mountains on either side and the Red Sea in front of them. Pharaoh and his Egyptian army were fast on the tail of the Israelites and saw them approach this enclosed area. Needless to say, Pharaoh’s army thought that the Israelites where confused and inadvertently boxed themselves in, they didn’t know that God had the Israelites exactly where He wanted them. But Pharaoh viewed it as a mistake and  I’m sure he was already celebrating his sure victory! The Israelites were fearful and told Moses that they would’ve been better off had they stayed as slaves in Egypt.

Ahhh, not so fast!  Not when the Lord on your side.

“But Moses said to the people, “Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the Lord which He will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians who you have seen today, you will never see them again forever.” (Ex 14:13 NASB)

At just the right time, the Lord had Moses lift up his staff and stretch out his hand over the sea and divide it so that the Israelites could cross the sea on dry ground…God parted the Red Sea! When the Israelites were all safely across, the Lord closed the sea and all of the horses and chariots of Pharaoh and his army perished in the sea! (Exodus chapter 14)

That my friends, is one of the best stories in the Bible. Moses had absolute trust that the Lord could and would deliver the Israelites when the situation looked impossible.

God wants us to obey Him no matter how terrible and impossible the circumstances look, stepping out in faith and trust in our Lord. Never shrink back from where God has clearly led you. Keep moving forward and you too will see your “Red Sea” parted as well. And when you do, please write to me and share your story.

Nothing is impossible when you are in right standing with God and following His teachings…..NOTHING!

In God we Trust,
