Post 71 Lets Review That Again

Hello all,

I thought I would continue to expound on the free gift Jesus gave us – the Holy Spirit and it’s power to help us overcome anything in life.

I would first advise you to read and reread the book of Acts. This is the book that explains the power that Jesus gave to His disciples in order to cast out demons,* heal the sick and overcome any obstacle holding people back from living a powerful life. I also want you to be aware that we are all disciples and teachers if we follow the Lord’s teachings. We all can receive these gifts if we surrender our lives to the Lord and live for Him- spreading the Word and the love of God.

First of all, we receive the Holy Spirit when we repent of our sins and accept that we need God to save us.  In more formal terms it’s called accepting Jesus Christ as our personal Savior.

“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”(Romans 10:9 NIV)

When we do this we may be very sincere in our request, but we may still hold on to our sinful behavior. It is when you surrender your life to the Lord’s teachings – saying “not my will but yours be done Lord,”  and desire with all your heart to do His will, that you will see an outpouring of the Holy Spirit on your life. Doing this empties  your heart of “self” and the Holy Spirit can then take over.

Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit.  So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.(Romans 8:5-6 NLT)

It is a fight of faith.  Have you ever heard the saying “fight the good fight of faith?” By choosing daily to swim upstream so to speak, and to not follow the way of the world, you are opening yourself up to blessings from God such as the peace and power to get through any circumstance. Act on the power God put inside you, take the first step and God will step in to help.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”(John 16:33NIV)

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in you.”(Isaiah 26:3 NIV)

Christ followers are not weak- the devil only makes us think we are alone and without help.  Accept the power placed inside you by the Holy Spirit.  Believe it. Once you feel the Holy Spirit leading you somewhere, be bold as a lion and follow it, then watch and see what God does for you.  You will be awestruck!

In God We Trust!
